Our History

20 + years ago there was a couple of people who came to the church on a Sunday morning who had a need for food. That day God laid on the heart of a young lady at that time a desire to show the love of Jesus by meeting that need which led to First Baptist Church of Hudson starting a food pantry ministry. The rest is history, we have grown from meeting the need of a couple to this past year along with the help of Feeding Tampa Bay and Florida Baptist Children's Home (One More Child), seeing over 1 million pounds of food go through the ministry helping over 18,000 families physically with the food and spiritually by telling them the truth in word and deed.

Matthew 14:16-21

"Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "We have here only five loaves and two fish." He said, "Bring them here to Me." Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children."

Agape 5-2 Food Pantry is a testimony to the power of God. Every week we at First Baptist Church of Hudson have the opportunity to serve our community and see the power of God at work as He in our weakness shows Himself strong. In the account of the five loaves and two fish Jesus took what in it's own power could only feed one young boy and with His power was given the ability to feed what was literally at least 15,000 people and still have leftovers.

God gave us His Son Jesus because in our own power we cannot fix the problem that Adam created in the garden when he disobeyed God and brought death on the entire human race. In the power of the work of Jesus on the cross we have the ability through faith to have that problem fixed and as John 10:10 says: "they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."; life meaning everlasting life and abundant life, meaning here and now. In our weakness He is strong.

Every week God takes this small church with a small building and few finances and in His power uses us to do great things in His name. Every piece of food is given out with the love of Jesus and the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
